Cuba Suffering Third Total Blackout

On the morning of December 4, Cuba started suffering from its third total blackout on the island in less than two months. It was caused by the shutdown of the Antonio Guiteras Thermoelectric Plant in Matanzas, when its automatic switch was triggered. This resulted in a national suspension of work and teaching activities on the island.

The shutdown of this thermonuclear plant happened just one week after it came into operation after maintenance work.
