Preface

In 2001, after retiring from 35 years of practicing law with eminent law firms in New York City and Minneapolis and thereafter from part-time co-teaching international human rights at the University of Minnesota Law School, I decided that I wanted to continue learning by researching and writing about topics that interested me in a blog.

Law was clearly such a topic after practicing that profession, especially international human rights that drew on my experience as a pro bono asylum lawyer.

History, economics and political science are other topics of interest that resulted from my B.A. with honors at Iowa’s Grinnell College (1957-61), including one semester at American University (focus on U.S. government and politics). Next I “read” PPE (philosophy, politics and economics) at Oxford University and obtained  another B.A. degree with honors (1961-63). Then I studied law and  obtained the J.D. degree with honors at the University of Chicago Law School (1963-66).

My interest in religion has been enriched by joining Minneapolis’ Westminster Presbyterian Church in 1981 after many years of religious and spiritual nothingness.

I have thoroughly enjoyed researching and writing this blog and now in my mid-80’s I am trying to simplify my life and decided to end the blogging. I hope others enjoy reading and learning from what I have written. Finally I have great thanks to my son, Brian Krohnke, for his skill and patience in doing most of the work in creating this blog archive.
